Shop Class's lead instructor and author of most courses, Joe Clay is returning! During his "COVID offseason," he has been safe and productive. Here's his latest project:
Joe checking the hardware fit on a mast that is mainly hand-shaped.
Made from Sitka spruce, the mast is 50' long... NOTE: electronics/lighting wiring in place.
Don't miss the experience of learning from a master when Joe returns to ShopClass-NB.com.
Classes scheduled for Joe:
Woodworking Joinery - June 3, 10, and 17; 9 AM - 12 PM This class is a follow-on class to our Beginning Woodworking or for woodworkers with some experience wanting to expand their skills. Basic knowledge of the table saw, and other equipment is a prerequisite. Instructor Joe Clay has developed a course that will explore different wood joints, i.e., half lap, dovetail, mortise and tenon, and the Festool Domino. Three sessions will combine lecture, demonstration and hands-on learning from a master. Registration is $195 with a maximum 6 students; materials provided.
Hand Tool Workshop - June 12; 9 AM - 12 PM Shop Class instructor Joe Clay, a hand tool enthusiast, teaches how to tune, use and properly sharpen various hand planes, chisels and scrapers. This is a hands-on workshop, so attendees are encouraged to bring their planes or chisels to be sharpened. As the Wood Whisperer says, “Power tools are for the grunt work; hand tools are for the finesse." Registration is $65 with a maximum of 6 students.
